One of the trends that I have noticed recently is that people have been advised to not consume egg yolks as it is quite fatty. Due to this the outcome has been of discarding egg yolks completely. Well this shouldn't be the case.
While yes, egg yolks do contain fats but that's not it. They are quite nutrient dense. Also, the amount of protein in an egg yolk is pretty much the same as in the egg white. So, it is not just empty calories.
While I would not recommend to consume a lot of egg yolks especially when the diet includes consuming more than 2-3 eggs on a daily basis. At the same time, it is not necessary to discard the egg yolk altogether. We can consume one whole egg i.e. with the egg white and yolk as part of daily diet routine. So, unless your doctor has advised you to not consume egg yolk, you can safely consume them in limited quantity.
As always, remember moderation is the key.
