Over the course of my cooking journey, reading up and experimenting with the basics of boiling pasta, I am happy to share these tips for boiling pasta perfectly.
These are very simple and quite effective.
The tips do not include adding oil while boiling pasta because you don't need to!
So, here they are:
- The vessel being used to cook pasta should be such that the pasta occupies 1/4th or 1/3rd of the vessel
- Water to Pasta ratio should ideally be 3:1. So, if 1 cup of pasta is being used at least 2.5-3 cups of water should be added
- Add enough salt to make the water salty
- Cook pasta as per the directions given or till you get it to your desired texture, preferably having some bite to it or al dente as it is called
- Drain and use the cooked pasta immediately or rinse it thoroughly with cold water if using it later
Please note that the above tips are for the store bought pasta since I am yet to make pasta at home!
And that's all. These are all the things one needs to know to get the perfect boiled pasta every time.
