I love tomatoes! And one of my favorite items to prepare with tomatoes is Salsa. It offers the freshness and tanginess of tomatoes in it throughout in this particular version.
Salsa is generally a side dish or condiment used a lot in Mexican dishes. There are numerous versions of it with various ingredients. Some versions are cooked while others are consumed raw.
The recipe I have shared here is extremely simple and easy to make. It does not take a lot of time in preparation and results in extremely flavorful Salsa. You could prepare this in barely 5-10 minutes and add bags full of flavor to various dishes.
So here are the steps:
1. Dice 2 large tomatoes, 1 medium sized onion, 1 green chilli and a handful of coriander (use the coriander stems too)
2. Add all of them to a chopper (I prefer the manual one) with 3-4 Jalapeno slices, pinch of black pepper, 1/2 tsp lime juice, 1/4 tsp red chilli flakes and salt as per taste
3. Chop and blend till you get the desired consistency
4. Adjust the spices or lime juice as per taste
And that's it! It is ready to be served.
I have observed that it can stay fresh for up to 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
I have used this as a side dish, a dressing on my salad, a spread in my sandwiches and many more with these being my top loved choices. This offers a lot of creative options with its flavor profile.
Give it a try!
